Sandwiches are the easiest snack. fast, comforting, and satisfying. Ever since I was old enough to order Champagne, the combination of a club sandwich and a great, slightly old, yeasty Champagne has been the perfect palliative for many trying moments. If I had just arrived in a hotel, too tired or late to go out for dinner, it’s the right thing. If I’ve been out to dinner in a strange city, and the food was bad, all I had to do was return to the hotel and call room service.
I'm enjoying your articles, Jeremiah. This one reminds me of business trips to London where I would order chicken biryani and a split of champagne from room service late at night while I was still working. Always stayed at the same hotel and it was a nice routine away from home. BTW, I worked for you many years ago: 1984/1985 at the Santa Fe Bar & Grill. In the pastry dept, got the connection to you via your brother as we both went to the Monterey Institute of International Studies. I don’t think we ever met, though. I was only there for 6 or so months. Cheers!
Chicken Club Sandwich
Your Grandma knew what she was doing!
Thank you, David!
Hi Jake. You learned well at Stars!
Thank you, and remember lashings of mayo!
Thank you, Gayle!
Especially in a special place!
Thank you, Kate, and remember, lashings of mayonnaise!
I was at the Mandarin Oriental in Manhattan just a couple of days ago, eating a chicken club and drinking Moet.
Nothing better than a club sandwich! I don't see them so often anymore but whenever my Grandma would take me to lunch that's what I would order.
Oh yes! Going to try this! Wonderful! What’s your favorite brand of store bought mayonnaise?
Wow!
